life.es.great.

"these are a few of my favorite things!"
you have to sing the above title to the theme from
 "the sound of music."
can i just say that danny and i are VERY blessed!
yes, we had to move to one of the most boring places.
on. the. planet.
BUT we have a beautiful home,
2 fantastic dogs, and a cat. i am working hard,
and for FREE (might i add)
on my edu-ma-cation (as i call it).
and since i'm feeling SOoo thankful,
here are some things i fancy lately.

p.s. these are not toothbrushes! they are blades for slicing your eye. :)

#1. my job ROCKS. i've never had a job where i don't want to
leave work every day. until now. i work for an eye clinic that is owned by our
bishop-(who rocks by the way) i do charts, sterilize instruments, watch cataract surgeries,
gas things, stock, organize, and schedule everything. i help the head nurse. i get my own
desk and bathroom too! it's the best - i even call my own hours, and get paid
leave and bonus's. what could be better, i ask you?
plus, don't i look cool in my scrubs?!

#2. i'm thankful for this man. he does the dishes, and cleans the house
before i get home from school and work.
always doing his part in the marriage so well. what a gem! ;)
danny was totally offended this was not my #1. i still
love you though honey!

#3. i am like addicted to these things. i make pumpkin chocolate chip
cookies at least once a month.

danny devours them in about 2 days-but they speak for themselves.

#4. i just love this picture of father lehi, so i'm posting it. it's beautiful.

farmington, utah!? nope...

my girlfriend amber and i decided to take a little road trip to
farmington, new mexico! i only wished the entire
way that this was farmington, utah. sadly, it's NOTHING like
utah-haha. amber was getting her phlebotomy license that weekend,
and so that left poor ol' azlyn in a hotel. i had a terrible time
lounging around, eating good food, and relaxing for 1 day.
awful, right?
NAW! it was a blast! we watched "baby mama"
if you have not seen this movie, you must.
and had ourselves a ball being away from the husbands.

here is my awesome dinner...so delish!

um, did you know they serve puppies on a plate?

amber, looking cute as ever in her scrubby scrubs.

can someone say hot!

before you start drooling all over your keyboard,
let me explain. i was recently asked
who my favorite celebrity man crush was.
after mulling it over in my head- i couldn't decide
between these 3 hot man babes. holy tird.
they.are.gorgeous.
so naturally, i figured i needed to publicize my thoughts.
now of course, they'll never be as handsome as
my own man, because he married me in the temple-
and that's HOT.
but hey,...a girl can dream; right?

my 1st man crush:
the first time i saw this man was when i was 12 years old
watching the movie "frequency," my favorite movie.

my 2nd man crush:
i first saw this hulk on the movie "the proposal" with
sandra bullock. yah, ryan reynolds is hawght!
his personality is the most attractive.
but that body-not too shabby!

my 3rd man crush:
of course.
i saved the best for last. um...chris
you are like a chiseled babe. the end.
and i like you better with long hair... ;)

oh yeah.

Real Men. Grow Facial Hair.

Okay. my husband has been trying since the dawn of time
to grow facial hair! i don't think there is a vacation that goes
by where danny does not proclaim to me that he is
going to grow out his facial hair, so he can be cool. in his little head he is convinced that
to be a man, you must have facial hair-well, at least that's what i'm getting from his
lectures. everyday he asks me if it's "getting better" i lie a little. is that bad? i'm lying
for his self esteem though, so that's a good wife! the truth is, danny grows hair at
his side burns and then sporadically. it's actually hilarious.
and...he looks like a mexican when he has a mustache. tehehehe...
so, naturally we must document this as per danny's request.
i have provided you with an apt photo of his newest growth-which we now have
shaved off-thank heavens because it's like kissing
a bristle brush 24/7! : P
and did i forget to mention, that in my
totally biased opinion... my husband is a stud.
yeah.

promotion :)

my darling danny recently got promoted.
so naturally, this calls for
a cake!
so i made him this little gem; chocolate, with raspberry
filling and raspberries and blueberries on top.
it was delicious!

"crackle" nail polish

It was just last week for activity days that
i-fell-in-love.
The young women volunteered to paint the younger girls nails
and it was a hoot.
I had never seen "crackle" nail polish.
Yes. I realize I am behind in life :)
But any who this stuff is rad, and addicting;
you should try it. Here is how mine turned out, sorry
for the cruddy pic.

Our Major!

Major Jimmy is the cutest dang dog I've ever owned :) In fact he is my favorite dog in the house! We adopted Major from a no kill shelter located here in Alamogordo called "Animal Village." We started off looking at some adorable baby pit bulls and Danny was falling in love. I passed by Major's cage at the time and he was curled up in a corner scared stiff. His nickname in the shelter was "Lincoln Log" because he never moved his body-he laid the same way all day long. He would run from you with incredible fear when you approached him. The second I saw him I was hooked! I thought he was the cutest thing I'd ever seen and I felt awful for him, I wanted him to be happy-and I wanted to make sure he ended up happy...so we got him.

He wouldn't look at us for the first week, we never did make eye contact. After about two weeks I was able to army crawl towards him and pet his head for 3 seconds but then I had to get up and leave or he would run from me. He was terrified of men, and would wet all over if Danny came near him-and sometimes even me. He laid against the wall for almost one month hardly ever moving, until one day I was able to take him to training class. It was a horrible experience at first for him, we had to almost drag him on his leash to teach him that we were not going to hurt him. He yelped as if someone was murdering him, but after about 5 minutes he understood we weren't going to touch him at all, just wanted him to walk with us. After that I was able to give him kisses every day and started to be able to approach him standing up and not army crawling. For about one and half  months only I could touch him, until we started slowly taking him outside on walks....he was scared of EVERYTHING, even sitting cars. But after a while he started to walk on a leash-and his personality started to come out of him.

Danny was able to walk him for the 1st time, but he wasn't able to have physical contact with him...until about 1 week ago!!! Major let Danny hold him, pet him, and run on a leash with him! It was so exciting-I almost cried! I know it sounds so lame, but when a dog goes through what he went through you just can't help but rejoice when he takes a step! He is scared of everyone who is not Danny and I, but he is slowly becoming more normal as we work with him. WE ARE SO. PROUD. OF. HIM. We love him, he is THE BEST DOG. He is extremely obedient, a bundle of fun when he's got energy, and super smart...I mean incredibly smart, he memorizes things incredibly fast and he remembers a command after the 3rd time.We are working with a trainer and all in all this dog is one of my best friends ever!

He loves flaming hot cheetos, peanut butter, beef, and bbq potato chips (gee imagine that, just like Danny!) He gets so hyper when he see's other dogs that he whines like he is dying, and he whines WHILE he is playing with them because he wants to play with them so badly! It's hilarious.

His name is Major Jimmy because the shelter named him after a man who went to Iraq and made it out alive. Major was a survivor from his pack who were severely beaten. His older brother and sister were beaten to death, found in a bloody bag and were murdered with a golf club. They all died at about 2 weeks old. The owners killed them because the mother (whom they chained up and never fed) had caught a goat one day in the back yard (that was their neighbors) and ate it. Then her puppies went next door and ate 50 chickens!!! 50! Those were starving pups. The man still continues to drink constantly and owns dogs, he see's nothing wrong with hurting them because he thinks they are "varmints." In short, he is disgusting and on trial for what he has done. Major was caught and hit a few times in the face, hence he was the only dog who was scared STIFF. His little brother and sister have serious issues as well-they are scared of humans but are overcoming it. His little sister is so scared she bites her leash until her gums bleed, and she never makes eye contact. It is SO SAD. But our Major...he's doing GREAT, and as much as I wish I could help his brother and sister; I know I chose Major for a reason-he needed it most. The others are, and will eventually overcome their fears...they are making great progress!

Major is growing FAST-he is half Labrador and Blue Heeler, but he looks like a German Shepherd-which just happens to be the luck of his color :) He is very obedient and does almost everything you tell him to. He doesn't jump on you, jump on furniture, eat your food, or beg. I think he came from Heaven just for me-haha. I am so happy that Major found us, and trusts us to give him a GREAT life!

Oh...and he's a total trouble maker sometimes ;)
